MIDP 22 is the last course in the present format. MIDP has been in existence since the early 1990's. During that time over 200 students have been graduated from the program and those individuals have had a marked influence on the quality of California law enforcement training in ways that are near impossible to quantify.
In 2008 the Master Instructor Certification Course will replace the present format. This will be Level Four of the POST Instructor Development Institute; with the three preceeding levels ( basic, intermediate and advanced) providing the student with new knowledge, skills and competencies.
More information can be found on the new instructor development process by clicking here.

The comments below from MIDP graduates provides some insight into the experience one gains from having attended the Master Instructor Development Program.
|
“
I have never been to a better class in 12 years of law enforcement.
You’ll never teach
the same way again. As an instructor, I am
much more imaginative, my teaching methodology is different. I see
it in my evaluations.” |

|
| “Are you kidding, the skills learned in MIDP have positively affected every aspect of my career. Most importantly, it has helped me to be a more effective teacher/trainer. Since MIDP, I have written a book and many published articles, became a mentor, presented seminars, started a consulting business, taught throughout California, and am regularly contracted by POST. MIDP was a gift.” |

|
| “By far, without a doubt, the most challenging and the most fruitful class in my entire life. Outstanding program. It’s not for everyone. It’s not a program anyone can take and pass.” |
– MIDP Graduate |

|
| “MIDP
totally changed me; how I view myself as an instructor. It is a very
tough program. It held me accountable where most training normally
doesn’t.” |
– MIDP Graduate |
|
| "I
just wanted to take the opportunity to say that I am truly thankful
to be a part of MIDP Class 18. I have been fortunate enough to have
attended a lot of law enforcement training courses over the years
and I must say that Class 18 has been the most enjoyable one I have
been involved in. The blend of intelligent, helpful classmates along
with our outstanding instructors has made this journey a true hoot." |
