POST Institute of Criminal Investigations (ICI)
Domestic Violence for Investigators

This is an ICI Foundation Specialty Course. This one-week course will provide both novice and experienced detectives with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct successful investigations of domestic violence. Students will learn specific investigative techniques, problem-solving skills, and case management skills related to the various types of domestic violence including cross-cultural, elder abuse, stalking, and officer-involved, with the goal of improving clearance and issuance rates.

All ICI courses are based upon adult learning principles. The classroom activities are practical, “hands-on,” and interactive. This 40-hour course is one of the Foundation Specialty courses of POST’s Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation (ICI).

Although preferred, it is not necessary to have completed the ICI Core Course prior to attending this course. Completion of the ICI Core Course is required if the student wishes to earn a Certificate of Recognition as a graduate of the Institute.
