| This
is an ICI Foundation Specialty Course. This one-week course will provide
both novice and experienced detectives with the knowledge and skills necessary
to conduct successful investigations of
domestic violence. Students will learn specific investigative techniques,
problem-solving skills, and case management skills related to the various
types of domestic violence including cross-cultural, elder abuse, stalking,
and officer-involved, with the goal of improving clearance and issuance
rates.
All
ICI courses are based upon adult learning principles. The classroom activities
are practical, “hands-on,” and interactive. This 40-hour course
is one of the Foundation Specialty courses of POST’s Presley Institute
of Criminal Investigation (ICI).
Although
preferred, it is not necessary to have completed the ICI Core Course prior
to attending this course. Completion of the ICI Core Course is required
if the student wishes to earn a Certificate of Recognition as a graduate
of the Institute. |
