PUBLIC AGENCY COURSE
TENDING THE GRAPEVINE
(How to Maximize the Yield)

1/2 Day Workshop

Who Should Attend?

Anyone interested in more effective communication that's honest, empowering and non-judgmental. With the "grapevine" as a model, conflict can be minimized, harmful rumors confronted and a healthy work environment cultivated by trust.

Through a series of communication and conflict management exercises, participants will learn to recognize the power and perils of silence, the benefits of perception checking, methods for building trust and how to use the grapevine to support the acceptance of change in the workplace.

TOPICS WILL INCLUDE:
  • The purpose of a grapevine.

  • Where we find grapevines.

  • What silence may mean (are you out on a limb by yourself?).

  • Eliminating the "germs" that can wither your grapevine.

  • Using a perception-checking technique that reduces defensiveness.

  • How to use the grapevine to build trust and set the stage for change.
