EFFECTIVE LISTENING

Effective listening is the critical ingredient in all communication exchanges. Far easier to talk about than to do, active listening is the most difficult communication challenge. It requires quieting the mind, focusing on the other person, suspending judgments and beliefs, and blocking out external distractions.

This experiential seminar will provide an opportunity to focus on this critical skill and to practice effective listening.

TOPICS WILL INCLUDE:
  • Common barriers to listening
  • Techniques for handling internal and external distractions
  • The impact of judgment and prejudice on what you hear
  • Non-verbal communication and how it impacts the spoken word
  • Verifying techniques
  • Different levels of listening and responses
